I have been learning to make a justified prediction about a text. I found this tricky because it was quit tricky to predict what the book was about. My next step is to ready the story to see if i'm right.

We have been learning about celebrations. There are different types of celebrations. We had to talk about these celebrations and decide what type of celebration they were. I found this tricky because i didnt know what type of celebration they were.
We have been learning to compare and contrast different celebrations. My group researched information about Chinese new year. Something i found interesting was what kind of food they eat. Next we worked with another group and used a Venn diagram to compare our celebrations. Things that were the same were Eid celebrates too. My next step is to put more detail and information in the Venn diagram.
I have been learning to add detail to my writing. We had to imagine we were a soldier or a family member and write about this picture. I used punctuation to make my writing more interesting. My next step is to Use my 5 senses to add more detail.
I have been learning to respond to a text using my Prior knowledge and experience. We read a story called A Birthday Cake for Grandma. I was able to make a connection in this text when josh and joshes sister made a cake. I found this tricky because i couldnt find clues in the book. My next step is to find more clues.
I have been learning to use my knowledge of prefixes and suffixes to read and understand the meaning of words. a prefix is a word that comes before a full word like unhappy. a suffix is a word that needs in a word like happened. i found this tricky because you needed to copy the words and work out what a suffix and prefix is. This is my pepeha art. A pepeha is a way of introducing yourself in Maori. I have included my maunga(mountain), my awa(river. my culture and a place which is special to me. My favourite part of this was colouring the sun. I enjoyed doing this art work.

I was surprised that animals could camouflage really good to hide from there predators. My next step is to make sure I summarise the information using my own words.
